Cleanup Team

King and Greenbriar Roads
Ohiopyle State Park

Both King and Greenbriar roads in Ohiopyle State Park, Fayette County, were cleaned on Saturday, October 4, 2003. The two illegal dumping sites had been eyesores, surrounded by the unique natural habitat and numerous botanical treasures common to the park.

Look at all the Bottles!Although a light rain continued throughout the cleanup, it didn't dampen the spirits of the 17 volunteers who contributed a total of 76 hours to remove 5 ½ tons of trash from the areas. Along with DCNR personnel, they filled a 30-yd dumpster with trash and returned the sites to their natural state.

Participants in the cleanup ate lunch in the renovated train station near the hiking/biking trail that follows the old abandoned rail grade along the Youghiogheny River. Despite the weather, the cleanup was successful and the two sites were completely cleaned.
