Two areas in
Susquehannock State Forest, one along Rock Ridge Road and
the other on Wild Boy Road, were returned to their natural
states on May
15,
2003. Appliances and other rusting metal, old household trash,
and a large pile of shingles marred the otherwise serene beauty
of the areas.
The contractor,
Parson Excavating & Septic Service of St. Mary's, PA,
winched the heavy items up a steep slope at the Wild Boy Road
site. On Rock Ridge Road, equipment was used to scoop the
shingles and other trash, removing a total of 1.5 tons of
trash and tires and recycling .5 ton metal.

A total of 180
miles of state forest roads and 89 miles of foot trails are
maintained in the Susquehannock
State Forest. Some of the finest views in Pennsylvania
can be seen from the vistas and from Route 44, which bisects
the forest.
