Fifty-three volunteers, including girls from VisionQuest and boys from Paradise School, spent the day removing trash and litter from approximately four miles of roadway April 21, 2001. Both roads are being monitored by volunteers committed to keeping them clean.
Trash was loaded into DCNR trucks and then transferred to a roll-off container located at the District Forest office maintenance yard. Proper disposal of tires and recyclable metal was arranged by Beechers Auto Salvage. Chambersburg Waste Paper provided hauling services and proper disposal of 5.38 tons of trash. Sheetz, Inc. in Chambersburg provided drinks and ice for the volunteers.
Sherri Clayton, Franklin County senior planner, noted that residents and commercial lawn care services may take their yard wastes to Hamilton Heights Dairy located at 2300 Edenville Road in Chambersburg.
