human chain large rocks and volunteers
A human chain formed, while cleaning one section of the Denholm site in Tuscarora State Forest, in order to bring up tires and bags of trash that had been filled during the morning. Large rocks didn't deter these hardy volunteers, who worked to clean the Route 235-Shade Mountain site in Bald Eagle State Forest.

A 70-ton crane was used to pull up the tires, appliances, and other large items that had been tossed over the steep slope at this scenic overlook on Ridge Road, just north of the Michaux State Forest border. Tons of trash and over 100 tires were a challenge to maneuver up this steep slope on Potter School Road in Forbes State Forest.
volunteers with bags of trash awaiting pick-up volunteers in woods gathering trash into trash bags

Trash, gathered by volunteers and piled at strategic points along the beach, was removed by boat from Little Tinicum Island in Valley Forge State Forest.

Picking up cans and bottles can be backbreaking work, but these volunteers at Tuscarora State Park never complained and finished the day feeling great!
front loader scooping up trash volunteers working on very steep slope
Heavy equipment was used to remove the tons of trash that had been dumped along the Orviston-Monument Road in Sproul State Forest. A steep slope made retrieving the trash a challenge for these volunteers at the Vassil Fields site in Laurel Ridge State Park.
volunteers gathering rusted cans and other trash some of the trash gathered included an old sofa and tires
These volunteers at Archbald Pothole State Park helped clean the area and made the park ready for the development of recreational opportunities there. These hard-working volunteers and foresters retired this old couch from a dumpsite at Mill Run in Moshannon State Forest.
volunteer produly standing by bags of trash volunteers receiving instuction
This happy volunteer took time to celebrate "bagging the trash" at the Crowsfoot site in Gallitzin State Forest. Learning about the Forest Lands Beautification Program was part of the volunteer experience at this Nescopeck State Park cleanup.
rusted old car removed from forest trees grow up through old van
On the move after many years resting in the forest, this car was part of the cleanup effort in Lehigh Gorge State Park. These trees, growing up through the bumper and inside the engine compartment of the old Butler Co-op van, illustrates how long the vehicle had been sitting at the Horse Farm site in Raccoon Creek State Park.
volunteers work in unison on clearing land longer shot of heavy equipment used to lift large items
A row of hard-working volunteers made short work of one section of Burnt Church Road in Buchanan State Forest. Equipment was the quickest and safest means to clean up the old dumpsites at Vroman Road and Peters Tract in Susquehannock State Forest.
